Obituary Professor Crispian Scully
The untimely death of Crispian Scully is a significant blow to the specialty of Special Care Dentistry (SCD) in the UK and across the globe. Crispian was a great champion of SCD that stretched back to the 1970s when he provided dental care to residents of Harperbury Hospital, a long stay unit for individuals with learning disabilities in Hertfordshire. Over his career he shaped the dental services for those with special needs in many ways. In the 1980s he and colleagues established a clinic in Bristol Dental Hospital for adults with special needs as well as setting up a dental service for children with haematological malignancy.
