Editorial

It is with great pleasure that I offer this my first editorial as
the Editor of Journal of Disability and Oral Health. The
papers in this issue demonstrate the broad range of
challenges faced by dental teams providing care to
individuals with special dental care needs. We start with
exploring the rare but challenging issue of individuals who
enter a dissociative state whilst undergoing dental treatment.
Ransford & Brennan provide an overview of the condition
and a case study to demonstrate the principles of
management. Similarly, reflexive anoxic seizures are
described by Wilson-Dewhurst, George and Taylor. This
thankfully rare but distressing reaction to challenge results in
seizures in patients where there is a physical or psychological
challenge.
