Determinants for dental trauma in adolescents and adults with cerebral palsy

Abstract
Aim and objectives: The main objective of this study was to assess the prevalence and major risk factors
associated with traumatic dental injury in teenagers and adults with cerebral palsy.
Methodology: A cross-sectional study was carried out in 30 institutions in the Lisbon area. Four hundred and ten
participants with cerebral palsy, with ages ranging between 13-67 years old were included. Oral screening for
caries history, dental trauma and occlusion was performed at each institution under natural light, by a single
calibrated observer.
