Delivering escort information for intravenous sedation – is a leaflet enough?

Abstract
Aims and Objectives: To investigate the knowledge of escorts regarding their duty of care when accompanying
patients receiving intravenous sedation for dental treatment.
Methodology: Over a three-month period, escorts accompanying patients receiving intravenous sedation for
dental treatment were asked to complete an anonymous questionnaire survey. The questionnaire was designed to
assess escort knowledge based on information provided in a written escort information leaflet.
