Hereditary angioedema and its implications for dental treatment

Abstract
Angioedema is a rare disorder causing swelling of deep dermis, subcutaneous or submucosal tissues of which
Hereditary angioedema (HAE) is one subtype. HAE arises due to a deficiency in or dysfunctional C1 esterase
inhibitor enzyme (C1-INH) which is an important regulator of inflammatory pathways.
