A literature review on the role of general anaesthesia within Special Care Dentistry

Abstract
Background: General Anaesthesia (GA) is utilised within Special Care Dentistry (SCD) to provide dental treatment for certain patients with complex needs.
Method: A literature search was undertaken through three online databases: Ovid Medline, Ovid Embase and the Cochrane Library. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were established. Data were collected and analysed descriptively.
