On Thursday 4th September 2008, the General Dental Council in the UK recognised the Specialty of Special Care Dentistry with the establishment of a Specialist List. Mediation will commence from the 1st October 2008. A landmark day for patients and the profession. Acknowledgement must be given to the Specialist Advisory Committee in Special Care Dentistry and its predecessor, the Joint Advisory Committee in Special Care Dentistry for their hard work and determination in finally establishing the Specialty in the UK.
